A great day to be alive (that song is playing in my head)

Chores uneventful. This is the second day the cows were able to go outside during the night. Course, it is suppose to rain tomorrow, so I am sure they will end up back in the barn. It is so much more work for Dave when cows have to stay in the barn. He has to feed them silage with a cart in the morning, kick them out in the afternoon, clean barns, bed, put trainers up. Work, work, work......like I said, it is so nice when they can go out.

I worked in the yard pretty much all day. It was a beautiful sunny 70 degree day with hardly no wind. I trimmed the shrubs on the patio, lay down more paper and straw in the garden, weeded the daylillies along the buildings. Weeded everything in the garden that isn't mulched. I wanted to get my mulch in the flower garden done, but time ran out. Maybe if it doesn't rain tonite I can quick do that in the morning. That and plant my impatiens, which have been patiently waiting their turn to get into the ground.

Dave and I found some old chicken fountains to use tonite after chores. I have been filling up little gallon fountains, but they are drinking like 7 gallons of water a day now, so it was time to find bigger ones. I sat in there and took some pictures of them tonite. One I am calling a sea of chickens, the next one, she is totally giving me attitude, and the final one is of my pretty garden after it is all weeded.

I did some experiments in the garden today. I took the wall o waters off the early girls, put them on the tomatoes planted later. I left one on an early girl, see if it makes a difference in how early I get tomatoes. Also left one on a pepper.

Decided to carry a pale of cow manure to the compost pile every day. I need to get it going good.

Tired, bedtime.

I have too much energy lately

I'm not complaining, I am getting so much work done, but all this energy is starting to scare me and I know it is scaring Dave. I went out to the garden at 10:00 and worked outside for over 6 hours. I got my compost out of the old bin adam and I made and I sprinkled it on my strawberries, green peppers, pumpkins, cukes. I replanted 2 potatoe plants that were growing in the wrong rows, then I star started on the flower garden. I dug out all but one yellow and one purple iris and replanted them by the honeysuckles. I planted all my plants I got from the internet. I will post the names of them tomorrow, I am just too tired tonite.

I had a scare today. I walked into the chicken barn and there was Cora (the cat) sitting on a hay bale licking her paws clean. I thought "oh boy, how many babies did she kill"? The chicks were all laying around like they were as calm as could be, so I think Cora just sat and watched them. Good thing I feed that cat well!

Dave worked on his stacker all morning. Rob stopped for a little while. I cheated and made cold sandwiches for supper, just too tired to cook.

Very humid today, but no rain yet. They are talking severe weather for tomorrow. Off to Marshall tomorrow.

It's an Advil night!

Worked in my garden for 5 hours today. I put up a little hoop house for my cabbage, so worms can't lay their eggs, then I put down paper and straw, no weeding for this chicky. I also put down straw on my pumpkins and some of my tomatoes. I weeded the onions, lettuce, so all I have left to weed is peas and around the wall o waters. I am one tired girl. Tomorrow I want to work in my flower bed, and get my perennials planted. I want to bring the leaf mold from the grove and use it for mulch in my flowers. I think it looks pretty nice and will sure help keep the weeds down. I also want to use up the last of my compost on my strawberries.

Got my first food out of the garden. I made a salad with my lettuce thinings and also had some radishes. Yummy. Well, bedtime for this chick
